When I think of Michael Kors, his brand "Michael" by Michael Kors takes me back to the beginning of my high school era. Everyone either had to have MK logo shoes or a MK tote bag to perhaps look cool or like you had some type of fashion sense. I mean it was really all about Michael Kors at one point in time and boy did we ride that bandwagon for quite some time.
As I grew up, and discovered his more luxurious line under the MK umbrella, "Michael Kors collection," I discovered how spectacular his designs truly are. Originally founded in 1981, Michael Kors can be best known for designing classic American Sportswear for women. and has been designing for over 40 years.
So when I found out that he would be a hosting a runway show inside of Bloomingdales on the upper east side of New York, I knew without doubt that I would be in attendance. I mean who doesn't love a good runway show?! Besides, all I could recall is how I watched his 2022 NYFW runway show live from behind my computer screen on LinkedIn.com. How pitiful? But nonetheless, entertaining. and enticing.
I envisioned myself sitting next to the infamous Anna Wintour and the Devil Wears Prada star Anna Hathaway, which sighting of the two, made me chuckle a bit based on the movies fierce connotations pertaining to Wintour. Little did I know, by envisioning my self at the MK show, I had just planted a seed that was bound to come to fruition. A month later, and Ta-Da, here we are!
As I was walking off of Bloomingdales escalator to attend his runway show with a friend, I noticed a small entourage and as I looked closer, I realized we were walking into the event with Michael Kors himself. Speechless for a minute, I composed myself. I walked up to him to introduce myself (because clearly, I am all about being "bold" these days) and briefly confessed my admiration for his designer collection.
I also proceeded to take a selfie with Kors which is photo'd above and he was extremely receptive and even did a few poses for camera. He then started the show and walked us through his latest fall & winter collection which had a variety of styles and fabrications to die for.
From alpaca and shearling coats, to jumpsuits and jersey embellished dresses, we saw a variety of what MK had to offer this season. Not to mention his most identifiable trends including Animal print on Animal Print and oversized tote bags.
His commentary on each runway look walked us through the concepts of each design and demonstrated the various ways to style and wear each garment. He definitely showed us why he's been game this long and overall I really enjoyed the entire runway show.
